Sentiero Natura 1 Agrifogli giganti (Piano Pomo)

In the Castelbuono area, a path connects the Crispi refuge of Piano Sempria with Piano Pomo. The trail passes through a dense forest of holm oaks and downy oaks, and reaches an area of great naturalistic interest due to the presence of a colony of giant holly trees of remarkable size and beauty.
The trail is short and easily walked by anyone. During the ascent you will reach one of the most panoramic points of the Madonie, from which you will be able to enjoy a spectacular landscape, ranging from the sea of Cefalù, to the Aeolian Islands, the Nebrodi, and a good part of the northern slope of the Madonie, with the villages of Pollina, San Mauro and Geraci. In the distance you will also be able to admire the mass of Mount Etna. Continuing along the dirt path you will reach the Piano Pomo plateau, where on the left you can admire a "pagghiaru," a shepherd's shelter, built just for visitors.
From the opposite side, through a gate, you will enter the area where vegetate, among the maples, beeches and oaks, the centuries-old giant hollies whose exceptional size ranges from 15 to 20 meters, probably unique in the world.
